Peter and his wife of 36 years have been long time supporters of ManUp! since its inception in 2010. They are both extremely passionate about creating awareness for prostate cancer and championing the importance of early detection and annual testing.
“I first heard of the work ManUp! were doing through my involvement with Freemasons Queensland, in particular through the Viking Lodge (a Freemason group made up of Churchie Old Boys). I had read an article in the Churchie magazine that spoke about the work ManUp! did and I was instantly drawn to the cause and wanted to find out more,” said Peter.
Prostate cancer is one of the biggest health issues facing members of Freemasons Queensland, so many of the members have rallied around ManUp! to help encourage men to get their PSA tested regularly.
“We have lost brothers at the Vikings Lodge to prostate cancer, so this is an issue very close to my heart. The work that Jill and the team do is invaluable, and I have seen first-hand how important early detection is, it truly can save lives,” said Peter.
“By purchasing a table or two at the ManUp! events every year, I know I am playing a small part in helping to change the statistics. Every ticket purchased goes towards keeping ManUp! on the road, educating people in rural communities the importance of early detection,” he said.
